Music on Brit Pop!!!?
I need to be able to:

Describe the Style of Brit Pop and to give examples
Please help me out possibly by giving some websites names for me to go on or maybe give me some info that you know!!! Thank you sooooo much!!!
Brit pop was a term given to a branch of 'indie' guitar music in the early 1990s. The term was used as all the new wave of bands came from Britain, and it coincided with the new Labour government in the UK to create a buzz of optimism in Great britain, the phenomonon of 'Cool Britannia'. The best known exponents are/ were Blur, Oasis and Pulp, but there were many other successful bands including Suede, Elastica, Sleeper and Supergrass as well as less successful ones including Menswear, Gene and Cud. The movement came from an initial outburst of Manchester/ Liverpool based new guitar music in the very early 1980s of whom the Smiths, Echo and the Bunnymen, the LAs and the Happy Mondays are best known. In common with punk, many of the leading lights saw themselves as taking music back to basics - the punk movement had rebelled against progressive rock, the Britpop music against the laboured emotionally charged 'grunge' of bands like Pearl Jam and Nirvana. Though most of the bands were newly formed, several bands tied to Britpop had, in fact, been around for a number of years prior to getting success in the new movement - these include Pulp, James and Gene.
In terms of style, the music is probably most noticeable for its debt to 1960s British bands - Oasis' sound was unmistakeably that of the Beatles, Pulp and Blur both told 'story songs' not dissimilar to those of the Kinks, Supergrass had a knockabout cockney appeal similar to the Small Faces, and Blur later moved on to the slightly more technological sounds pioneered by David Bowie during the 1970s
